2022 California Albarino
2022 California Albarino
Varietal: 100% Albariño
Vineyard: River's Edge (75%) and Vista Luna (25%), Clements Hills AVA, Lodi, CA
Tasting Notes: Bright and lively, with flavors of fresh squeezed lime that are reminiscent of a classic margarita. Grapefruit and orange creamsicle are prominent - as well as a distinct aroma of lime zest, which adds a zingy and refreshing note. The acidity is brisk and invigorating, providing a nice balance to the fruit flavors. There is a subtle hint of saltiness, which enhances the overall margarita-like impression.
Pairing Suggestions: A trendy, modern alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, this wine pairs perfectly with seafood - from fish tacos to oysters - or with lighter meats and delicate, salty cheeses - like burrata, manchego or feta.
Wine Making: We harvested mid August, at a perfect 20 Brix. The wine was pressed whole cluster, cold settled for 2 days, and racked to old stainless steel Coca-Cola drums to finish fermentation for six months. The result: 250 cases of bright, crisp Albariño coming in at 12.5% ABV, 5.9 TA, and a pH of 3.5.
